My Favorite Animal

To and fro, to and fro,
swishing through the waves I go.
My home is in the dark blue sea,
stretching far as I can see.

To and fro, to and fro,
swishing through the waves I go.
Swimming fast along the way,
in the waters I love to play.

To and fro, to and fro,
swishing through the waves I go.
Building speed to jump up high,
out of the water, into the sky.

To and fro, to and fro,
swishing through the waves I go.
Diving back into the sea,
so smoothly and so easily.

To and fro, to and fro,
swishing through the waves I go.
I wake up slowly from my dream,
a dolphin's life seems so serene.

My favorite animal is a dolphin, and this is a poem I wrote for Judi's Essay Artsy contest!

Humidity!

I had a feeling today might not be pleasant to wake up to. Last night, I went to bed around 12:30am (whoa, early for me!), got all nice and comfy, drifted off to sleep almost immediately, and then awoke about 25 minutes later to a loud crash! I realized the crash was thunder, and not even 2 minutes later, there was continuous thunder and lightning. I had to get up and shut off my computer, since I do like to leave it on for a few days. Anyway, when I got up this morning and got out of my bedroom, I could feel the humidity. Now usually humidity doesn't bother me. Or it bothers me a little, but not enough so that I can't do anything. Today it's just downright yucky. I've been doing only a few things here and there, but I'm tired from it. While I realize I could turn on the central air, I'm not doing it. I hate a/c. It's not even all that warm enough to warrant turning it on. I've got most of my windows open, and there is a really nice breeze happening. But I'm just taking it easy, I guess! I think it's supposed to rain soon, so maybe that'll help!

I had a busy day on Thursday. My mom came over with her Shark mop thingy, and she washed my kitchen and bathroom floors. I tried to see if I could use it, since it's pretty light-weight. But pushing it around was a bit too much. Oh well, I'm just glad my mom could help! We ended up cleaning the entire kitchen, wiping walls down and moving things to clean, too. I also cleaned Mittens' litter box, which was the reason I asked my mom if she could mop anyway, since I had to move all that. So it was a busy afternoon, which then led into babysitting for my friend. After my friend picked her son up, my mom took me to get my digoxin AGAIN. They didn't have my regular dosage, only the next higher one, so I got 3 of those pills, which I had to cut in half. It's getting ridiculous, if you ask me! By the time my mom dropped me off, I didn't even feel like making dinner. I was very tired! I just vegged on the couch watching my shows, until the Lost season finale came on. I was afraid I'd fall asleep, but it was so good, that didn't happen! I went to bed soon after it ended.

My Friday was alright, but I was tired from my Thursday. I got my dishes done while babysitting later Friday afternoon, but for most of the day, I didn't do too much. I actually bought some very early Christmas gifts, from Bath & Body! I know it sounds crazy, but I got an email from them, and they were having clearance. Their Signature Collection lotions and bath stuff were 6 for $20. That's a little more than $3 a bottle, which is a friggin' steal considering bottles of lotion can cost at least $9.50! So anyway, I bought stuff on the website, and then babysat and washed dishes. I was so exhausted after Jeannie left with the baby, that I felt physically sick to my stomach. I tried to lay down for a bit, but it got kinda worse. So I finished making dinner, and watched tv for a few hours. I felt a bit better after just chillin!

My mom is over here waiting for the lady from church and her hubby to come over to see the apartment. I hope they want it. It sounds like they really do, despite the fact that they won't even be here most of the year. I really don't care, as long as someone rents the place, that's all that matters!

Well they are here, and I'm going to spy. haha! I also might have to shut down the computer, I just heard thunder!

It's Alive!!! It's Alive!!!!

IT'S A MIRACLE!!!!!!! MY WATER-LOGGED TOILET-SURVIVING CELLPHONE IS WORKING!!!!!!!!!!

Today I decided to try turning on the phone again, to see what it might do. I was fully expecting nothing. It took a few seconds of staring at the Verizon graphic that appeared after pushing the power button for me to realize that the screen was actually letting me view things!!! It finished powering up, and there was the tulip I took a picture of a month ago!! I tried the music player.....that worked too!!!!! I am telling you, I was so emotional that I had tears in my eyes! I had to recharge the battery for awhile, but I now have it all reprogrammed with my phone number, and I am playing Janet Jackson as I type!

Did I mention that I am beyond excited here??????

Oh and by the way.......I WILL NEVER GO NEAR THE BATHROOM WITH THE PHONE AGAIN!!! LOL!!

A Couple Of Pictures

Here are a couple pictures from the 90s dance party. I didn't have my camera with me, or I probably would have taken alot more. But it didn't fit in my jeans pocket, and I don't usually carry a purse when I go out to a bar! From left to right, Dee, Joanie, me, Carly, and Mandy! Me and Joey, the DJ!! He was dressed as a ladybug from the movie Ladybugs, with Rodney Dangerfield, I think. He played awesome music that night! He also had some pretty cool trivia questions, a few of which I knew, but I didn't get up there fast enough to answer. lol

Ummmm...

My cold is finally starting to make a turnaround! I actually slept through the night last night. The night before was terrible. I was so stuffed up, I couldn't even wear the oxygen. I tried steaming my face, I tried putting Vicks all over my chest (yes, I know this is not a wise idea being on o2, but I was desparate!!), and I even tried opening my front door and sticking my head out there for like 5 minutes, hoping the cooler air would break something up. I watched tv for about an hour, and finally tried going to bed at 1:30am. Needless to say, yesterday I took a looooong nap!! But today, well today so far it's a much different and better story. Hopefully in another couple days, I will be totally fine!

Well I better get dressed. I need to run out to the credit union to deposit a check that I got from the discussion panel thingy I participated in last week. I was surprised it came so quick! I also need to take a loan out to put gas in my car. lol It's past $4 a gallon here now. It really sucks!!

Catching Up

I had a busy week last week, for the most part. Something was going on every day. Monday was the only day I had relaxed, which was fine with me. Tuesday, I went to lunch with a friend who was in town for a few days. I hadn't seen her in over 3 years, since she lived near NYC for a long time, and now she's in CT. She wasn't here for great reasons, but seeing her perked her right up, and I was so glad we were able to get together. We went to Lewiston, right down near the Niagara River, and had lunch at this place called The Silo. It was such a nice day, and it is always so beautiful down there, and peaceful. We had lunch and chatted for a few hours. She dropped me off, and I rested for the remainder of the day. I think sitting in the sun got me tired out! But, hey, I got my Vitamin D intake!

Wednesday was the infamous phone incident, which occupied most of my day. Later that evening, I met up with Karen (my friend) at Olive Garden for dinner. We enjoyed a fabulous meal, and even better company. I really do miss her, but there is no way she'd ever move back here. Can't say I blame her, though, this isn't exactly the booming area it once was many years ago. We said our goodbyes after dinner, and hopefully she will be back in another couple months to tie up some loose ends in regards for the reason she was here in the first place.

Thursday I ran some errands, and then participated in an online discussion panel through one of the survey websites I joined. It was neat, I've never done anything like it before. It was in a chatroom setting, with about 9 other people, and the moderator asked us questions that we had to answer honestly. The entire thing was about cleaning products that are environmentally sound, particularly the Green Works line. I had heard about it, but didn't know much about it. The discussion was about an hour long, and we are supposed to get $50 for it. Hopefully I'll get it soon! It's going toward the laptop fund!

Friday I chilled around the house, until the evening, and then it was time to go dance to 90s music! I was very happy that Mandy and Joan went, and also my friend, Dee, and Mandy's friend, Lisa (well I'm friends with her, too, but she went to school with Mandy!). It was alot of fun! There were 90s-themed drinks, such as a Zack Attack (from Saved by the Bell), Gin & Juice (a Snoop Doggy Dogg song), a Peach Pit (the place where the Beverly Hills 90210 characters hung out), and a Crypt Keeper (for the Tales from the Crypt show). There was a fashion show, and the person who took the prize was a girl who dressed like Ricki Lake. She was hysterical! And of course, I danced to several songs on the dance floor, and I also did some chair dancing, too. We didn't leave until after 1am (Joan stayed later), even though it was going on til much later. I'm glad we went, it was alot of fun!

Saturday, I was very tired, and just hung out doing pretty much nothing all day. I did join some friends for a movie that night. We saw Made of Honor. I thought it was a cute movie. I'm not going to give any of the plot away, but part of the movie involved a character who was supposed to be from Scotland. Of course, they showed scenery in Scotland (which was absolutely stunning). I liked the movie. I'm going to borrow Annette's puppies, and give it 4 puppy paws up!! Thanks, Haver and Asa, for letting me borrow your paws!

Sunday, I went to church, and then to Mandy's house to visit her and the kids. My throat had started bugging me a little, but I really thought it was because our weather her is so crappy. What the heck happened to spring?? Anyway, I had fun over there. My nephew is doing really well walking, and my niece does a great job at making me laugh. She was asking me about my phone, and I told her I had an accident with it, and it got near water. I didn't tell her what water it fell into, because she is almost 3, and I didn't want to give her any ideas about putting things in the toilet. lol I told her I was sad, but it was an accident. And so, she repeated my entire story to me about 15 times, which started making laugh. She was also working on 25-piece puzzles, which she was putting together all by herself. She is really smart!

Today I've spent the day trying to get rid of this dumb sore throat that has turned into a slight cold. I've eaten lemon and honey several times, I've gargled more than I care to, taken Tylenol, and extra vitamin C. It's really irritating. But I will keep on doing this until I get better!! I really wish the weather was better, because I think it's the culprit to the crappiness I am feeling. It's a real bummer, too, because one of these days I would really like to see Euan. I was supposed to go almost 2 weeks ago, but it didn't end up working out. It's so frustrating, and hard to believe I haven't seen him in almost 9 months. 9 months!!! Ugh, one of these days!!

Well I'm off to bed early. I need to go out tomorrow to get my heart medicine yet again. Maybe I'll feel a little better, I'm really hoping this doesn't last long!

Background Change

It's quite obvious I've made a change in my background, yet again! Poor Merle was having a hard time with my last background, and I kinda wanted a change already anyway. lol If you haven't notice, the background is moving to resemble ocean water. While I just love it, and a couple people who I had check it out like it, too, please let me know if looking at it makes you seasick!! I don't want to be responsible for someone feeling like they need to puke while reading an entry! LOL

I Am A Jackass!

Yesterday morning, after exercising, I continued to listen to my earphones with my cellphone, jammin' to music on my phone. I went into the bathroom to do a few things. The cord of my cell's earphones kinda got tangled with my tubing, I tried to fix it, hit the earphone cord too hard, and watched as my cellphone flew into the air, detached itself from the earphones, and landed smack dab in the toilet. Yes, IN THE TOILET. I dove in after it, not even 2 seconds later, even though I felt like everything was slow motion. The phone was still playing music, and I had some hopes that maybe it would be ok. Until I started wiping off the water. I wasn't even hitting keys, and my phone was doing all kinds of crazy things. All I kept saying out loud was (skip over this sentence if you don't like swear words lol) "I can't believe I fucking did that!" I must have said it at least 10 times. I was so sick to my stomach, because not only did I use that phone to make calls (duh, what else are phones for?), but I listened to it constantly with all the songs I had on there. Did I tell you I felt so sick to my stomach??

So I get dressed, look all around the house for my old cellphone (I guess I am so greatful I never gave it to my cousin!), and after finding it, drive to Verizon Wireless to find out how to get that old cell reprogrammed with my number. The guy tells me they can do it for me, for $20. I shrug and say fine, and then the guy asks if I have internet access. I tell him yes, so he tells me he can give me a sheet with directions on how to reprogram the phone myself. For free. Gee, let me think on what to do....DUH, give me the damn sheet! I swear, they charge for everything these days. So I drive home after making a stop at Target, and I reprogram the phone. Thank goodness I still had the phone, but I absolutely hate it. After using my nice mp3 playing phone for over 8 months, I hate the old phone! But, it is a phone, so I can't complain too much. I'm just not taking anywhere near the bathroom!

I realize that on my old phone, I had deleted all my contacts except for family members, because I had originally planned to give my phone to my cousin. I also realized that many of the numbers I had for family and friends were not in my address book. Soooo, I had to email a bunch of them, tell them what happened (although I had left out the toilet part), and ask for their numbers again. I had to start laughing when 5 of my friends emailed me back saying they've dropped their phone in the toilet. I guess I'm not the only jackass out there, so I don't feel so alone! One of my friends told me if I give the phone a couple days to dry out, it might start working. Well, I've tried the phone twice today, and although it turns on, and can actually dial out, the screen doesn't work. There really isn't a point in trying to use it if I can't see who I'm dialing or who is calling!

And in case you are wondering, no, I didn't have insurance on the phone. If the damn taxes on the phone bill weren't so damn much, I would have put insurance on the phone. But as it is, I pay almost $10 in fees and taxes alone, which sucks big time, so I didn't want to add the cost of insurance. I am currently watching a few of the same phones on Ebay, however. I know I have my old phone, but it sucks, and I want my chocolate phone back!!

So anyway, that is the story of why I am a jackass. Yesterday I was so upset, but today I am not too upset about it. I just hope I learn my lesson and stay out of the bathroom with the phone!!!

New Playlist

Today's been a relaxing day. I've been doing stuff on my computer, including working on jewelry pictures for my site which now need to be posted, and creating a new playlist. The songs on this list include songs from the 90s. Mostly dance songs. This Friday, one of my friends is DJing an I Love the 90's Dance Party, and I am sooooooooo excited about going! He did an I Love the 80's party awhile ago, and I missed it because I wasn't feeling well. So I am definitely looking forward to dancing away! All the songs on my playlist, and all the songs my friend will be playing, will just remind me of high school and my college days going out to the clubs and dancing. I sometimes miss those days, but heck, I'll just turn on this playlist and dance in here!! haha!

My, Oh My

I am not exactly sure what's happened to me in the past two days. However, let me just what I've gotten accomplished!

Friday:
*got my $300 from the IRS
*exercised
*washed dishes
*called the pharmacy
*called the o2 company/got a return call and planned out my next support group meeting
*washed a load of laundry
*ran out to the pharmacy, the dollar store, and the credit union
*vacuumed (yes, Sheila, shield your eyes LOL) the one rug in my computer room, and then used the hose to vacuum corners and such in several rooms
*took a nap!

Saturday:
*exercised
*dusted all the rooms
*took down the plastic!
*took a nap!

It didn't seem like I did that much today, but I did. Usually, if I have a day like I did Friday, I'd spend the next day paying for it. I was tired today, but it was an exhausted feeling, so I was able to do low-key stuff around the house. I'm just impressed. I never get this much stuff done, and on top of all that, I still feel like I have a tiny cold. I don't know what just happened here, but I'm not complaining!!

Tomorrow is Mother's Day, and my mom's birthday. We are going to have a nice dinner over at Mandy's house. I'm looking forward to it! I hope all the moms out there have an awesome day tomorrow. Without our moms, we would definitely not be here today!!

About My Dad....

My mom told me today that the appt my dad had with the ENT was good. The doctor did a hearing test, and although my dad still has no hearing in his right ear, his left ear is just fine. The doctor said that the ringing in his left ear might have to do with arthritis in my dad's neck, something he's been dealing with, but apparently hasn't told my mom! Anyway, I'm very relieved that his hearing is good in his left ear!!

A Couple Updates

First of all, Sunday night, I tried going on the IRS website again, to see where I'd have to call about my tax form (which I found, by the way, in a place I should not have put it!!). While on the site, I decided to enter my info again to see if it happened to be there, and aha! It showed up! According to what was written, my tax stimulus money should be deposited in my checking account on May 9th! Now, I am only a tiny bit excited, since I still have 2 days to see if this actually happens! But if I am $300 richer on Friday, than my laptop dreams are alive again!! Cross your fingers!!

Second of all, I got a call on Tuesday afternoon about my foot xray.....that I had on THURSDAY. I'm so glad it wasn't so serious that they waited all that time to tell me the results! Anyway, my nurse said that the xray showed bunion formation, which might be causing my foot problem. I am not even kidding, I almost said to her "No shit Sherlock!!" However, what I DID say to her was, "I've had bunions for over 15 years, I highly doubt that is the issue." I'm not usually that snippy with my nurse, she's a very nice person, but I felt incredibly irritated that I wasted time and taxpayer money to get a stupid xray that told me something I've known for over 15 years!! And I am sorry, but the NP I saw clearly saw my foot that day I went to her, and my bunions stick out like a sore thumb because I have such skinny feet, that she had to have been blind not to see them!! ANYWAY, my nurse said I can see a podiatrist, but I am going to hold off. My foot is starting to feel better. I think the sneaker change has helped quite a bit, plus the fact that I'm not wearing them all day after I exercise, like I was doing before. If it's not almost totally better in another couple weeks, then I'll go to a podiatrist. So that's that!

Thirdly, well this isn't really an update, but it's not news I really wanted to hear about. My mom called me this morning to tell me she was going to Buffalo with my dad for an appt he had with an ear specialist. He has been deaf in his right ear for about 2 years now, give or take. It happened suddenly, and the local ear doctor he went to really didn't treat it the way I feel it should have been treated. Anyway, my dad now had ringing in his left ear. That is how it started in his right ear, so I seriously seriously hope that whatever is going on in his left ear, he doesn't lose his hearing. That would make him completely deaf. I honestly have been trying not to think of what my dad will go through if that happens. So I've just praying all day that his left ear will be ok!!

Excited Beyond Words!

I found out something tonight that got me so beyond excited that I almost started crying!! I really can't go into details, for I won't find out if this news will come true for several months, but I am going to pray with all my might that it does!! I know this is a very vague entry, but I just had to put it down!!

Soggy Saturday, Sunny Sunday!

Yesterday was a very BLAH day. It rained pretty much all afternoon, although it was warm out. It got me in a BLAH mood, so I spent my entire day doing......NOTHING!! Ok, I exercised, showered, got dressed, but that was the extent of it. I spent alot of time online, then I read before taking a nap, and I had a late dinner and just vegged in front of the tv for awhile. It was highly exciting, I tell ya!

Today has been a pretty sunny day, for the most part. I wasn't feeling right this morning when I got up....late! So I didn't end up going to church. I did exercise after awhile, got dressed, and chatted on the phone with a couple people. I filled out paperwork to reapply for food stamps. I knew it was coming up this year, I just didn't know when. I got the paperwork yesterday, so I want to get it in asap! I will not mail it, because in 2004 when I had to reapply, they never got my info, and my food stamps got cut off. I was NOT happy!! So I'll just drive down there, since it's not that far anyway! I also took new pics of some of the jewelry I made in the past couple weeks, and I need to post that soon. So heck, I got a few things done today!

I was supposed to be in the group of people who got their tax stimulus refunds last week, but I never got it. I kept checking my bank account every day, and nothing. I went on the IRS site, and tried to figure out if I'd get it, and after putting in the required info, got a message saying I may have made a mistake or something, but they didn't have any info on my SS#. Greeeeeeeeeeeeeeeat. So I searched all over for the copy I made of my tax form, and couldn't even find that. GREEEEEEEEAT. I was sooooo not happy, because if I didn't have proof of filling in the form, I was basically screwed!! However, this morning I found it!! I put it in a folder that it didn't belong, but at least I found it! Now I have to figure out the next step. I'll go on the IRS website again and see if there is a number I can call this week about where the heck my money is??? I really hope they got my tax form in the first place!!

I need to take the pics of my jewelry off my camera before dinner. I took some of Mittens, too, that I hope come out. Maybe he'll post them on his blog later. lol

Health Stuff

I got my foot xrayed today. I've had the script since I went to the NP last Wednesday, but I was hoping my foot would magically heal itself and go back to normal. Seriously, that's what it's done before when this has happened. But noooooo. So I just went and got it xrayed, even though I really don't think it's going to tell me or the doctor anything at all. I mean really, if it was broken or even a hairline fracture, wouldn't I not be able to do anything with it?? I'm still exercising!! Anyway, it's out of the way. I think I'll get a call about it in a couple days, according to the tech who took the films. So that means next week. I'm not really worried about it, since I am pretty damn sure I didn't break anything.

I found out on Monday afternoon that Digitek, the medicine I take for my heart, was voluntarily recalled by the company that distributes it. There was a possibility that the thickness of the tablet was more than what it should be, meaning more medicine than is supposed to be in the pill. I had to get my Digitek refilled, because I had none for Tuesday. When I called the pharmacy, they said they could give me only a few pills, since they just found out about it, too, and they weren't sure when they would get Lanoxin (the original drug). So I picked up the 3 pills. Today I remembered that I needed more pills, so I called the pharmacy again. They still didn't have much backup pills, and told me to call my doctor to ask what to do. My doctor called the pharmacy and wanted me on Lanoxin. So I went to the pharmacy, and they gave me 5 pills of Digoxin, which is another generic. By the way, I have been on Lanoxin/Digoxin/Digitek for over 32 years, so I've had all 3, and it didn't really matter what I got, as long as I got it!! Soooo, now I have to call on Monday AGAIN, to see if they are able to give me more than a few pills at a time. What a waste, to keep driving back and forth to the pharmacy for this! Not that it's their fault. I really think if a company is going to do a voluntary recall, they need to do some kind of heads up so people won't be scrambling to replace their meds!!

In my last bit of health stuff, I am going to the local PH doc in Buffalo on Monday. I really thought I'd only be seeing him just once a year, so he could be familiar with me in case I had an emergency, and needed to see someone quick. But when I saw him in January, I was still getting over pneumonia, so I think he wanted to make sure I was actually doing ok by now. While I am at the appt, I plan on asking him if he'd be willing to come to my planned support group meeting in June, to talk about PH. Maybe have an open Q&A session or something. I have been working with a Gilead rep who has been trying to get this doctor involved more in the PH community, and so far he's been very reluctant. I think that really sucks, but I'm going to ask anyway! Hell, if my own PH doc in CLEVELAND was willing to drive all this way for a meeting here last year, this doctor should be willing to give up an hour on a Saturday!! So I guess I'll see what happens on Monday when I ask!!

Well I'm very exhausted, so I am off to bed!
