A Very Long Day

Well, today was the day that Mandy, Ron and Hailey moved their things out of the apartment and into their new house. Well, not Mandy or Hailey, but you know what I mean. The fact is that I have lost my housemates. And now we need to find some more. I spent the day mostly with Mandy, since I'm not really allowed to move anything myself. I took a tour of Mandy's new digs when I went over with my mom, and it's a rather nice place! I sat with Hailey in her new room, and made sure she went back to sleep by rocking her chair. And even though I really didn't do much, I came home completely exhausted. I think I'm emotionally drained. It's hit me that they are gone, and living their lives in a new home. Sure, it'll be nice to visit them in their own home. But I'll miss them. I know, I sound like a broken record. I'll get over it one of these days.

The funny moment of the day: When Ron was trying to get his brother to turn the couch as they were getting it out of the apartment, he told John to pivot the couch. This created hysterics from myself because all I could think about was the Friends episode when Ross was telling his friends to "pivot!! pivot!!" the couch they were moving up the stairs for his apartment. When I told Mandy, she laughed hysterically, too!!

I feel for you - at least they're not going to be too far away. ((hugs)) Comment from fitzzer - 8/1/05 2:10 PM
After getting a few more calls for Darlene today, I decided to just turn on the machine and let it pick up after 2 rings. I went out to dinner tonight with my parents, and when I got back, there was a message. It was from Adelphia Cable, and it wasn't even a message for Darlene. It was left for some other chick named Colleen, and she had better get her cable bill paid or she's going to lose it!! How sad is this? New number today, and all the calls I received weren't even for me. Groovy.

The good news of the day is that I finally finished remaking the necklace that I had made last week that broke. And guess what?? It didn't break!! And it looks pretty nice! Wish I had a digital camera, I'd show ya! lol I am thinking of just buying a roll of film, and taking pics of everything I've made so far. Maybe then I can at least post what I've made!

I got to see Hailey a couple times today. Mandy is packing, and I believe they are moving out this weekend. My mom had said they could take their time moving now that no one's going up there right away, but I think they just want to get it done and over with. I'm definitely going to miss them! I'll miss hearing Hailey crying, and I'll miss hearing Cleo going nuts. I'll miss going up to see Mandy and chat with her about whatever. I'll miss smelling the yummy food she makes. I'll just miss them. Period. They were my housemates for so long. I know they aren't moving to no-man's land, but, it's not just a walk upstairs anymore.

I have no major plans for this weekend, other than helping/watching my housemates move, and going to a baby shower on Sunday for my friend, Dee's, nephew. The weather is supposed to be very nice for the end of June, which has been one of the warmest and dryest in a long time. Yes, I know I sound like the weatherman, but that's because I just heard him say it half an hour ago! Anyway, that's about it for now!

Wrong Number!!

I got my first call this morning on my landline phone. Thinking it was my mom, since she's the only one who has my number, I answered by saying, "Why, hello."

"Darlene?" the guy asked.

"Who?" I said.

"Is Darlene there?" he asked.

"No, you have the wrong number," I said, and hung up.

UGH!!! Doesn't it figure that the first call I get is a wrong number!!

When I first was given my new cell phone, I kept getting men calling me and asking if I was available to meet them all over the united Now being a married woman I used to just hang up, then I started saying, "Hold on...let me ask my Husband" always followed by a click on their end.....finally I asked a guy that called where did he get my number from anyway.......told me it was listed in the back of a so called 'Gentlemans Magazine'........lovely, just lovely! calls stopped after a few months but I did have fun with it! lol Comment from demandnlilchit - 8/10/05 10:46 AM

But was he cute? Hey, stranger things have happened! Comment from luvmort - 8/3/05 10:13 AM

Well, the rest of my day wasn't too bad, after the morning and afternoon goings-on. I didn't get to make the necklace I had planned on doing today. I know it's going to take me several hours, so maybe I'll get to it tomorrow. I took a nap, then went back down to my parents' house for dinner. I hung out with my dad for a bit after dinner. I had the nerve to ask him if he really had ordered something for my birthday, or if he just didn't get it. It is Thursday, you know, he said I should get something by Tuesday. I felt like a little kid asking about a gift! lol He was like, "Oh yea, they didn't call me about it. Hmm, I'll have to call tomorrow. It's coming from Albany." Hmmm, what kind of thing is he getting me?? I'm even more excited now, and mainly's a gift from my dad. I don't even care what it is, the fact that it's from him just makes it wonderful!
After chatting with him for a while, I decided to go home to gather the garbage for tomorrow morning. It's one of my least favorite chores (well, I hate most chores!) because it tires me out. I just try to take my time and gather things. I make it sound like I have a ton of garbage for one person, but that's really not the case. After that, I just read for a while. I watched the news. And now here I am, typing all of this nonsense in my journal. I know, an eventful day. So exciting. I'll end it now before I bore even myself. lol

Well, my phone number has been ordered, and I should have it by tomorrow. This bites. Hrmph!

For Rent: One Bedroom Apartment, Available Immediately!

I had a feeling that things were too good to be true. I got a call earlier from the guy who was supposed to be moving in upstairs on Monday. Unfortunately, it's not going to happen. His girlfriend's current roommate (who is his sister) was told that the roommate she was going to have move in decided not to. So his girlfriend doesn't want to move here now. He tried everything he could to convince her to move here, but she's not having it. And I guess there's no way he can just afford moving in by himself. Sooooo, that leaves us with an empty apartment, and my parents paying out of their own pocket for part of the mortgage payment. I surely hope that won't last very long!! I hope we can find someone to move in soon, someone decent!! Ugh!!

This also means that I'm calling today for a phone line. I can't afford cable modem by myself right now, so the phone line is going to be my connection to the internet. I'm sooooooooooo not happy about this!!!

Doing Better!

I think I caused alarm in a few people with my previous post about not feeling well for a few days. It really wasn't fun, but I am happy to report that I've been doing much better the past couple days! I especially noticed that I was back to myself yesterday, when I went shopping with my friend, her mom and her baby daughter. I walked faster than them at some points. And I wasn't tired or out of breath! So, maybe my icky days were just weather-related. I had been reading quite a few posts from fellow PHers on the PHA website, who have felt the same way as I had recently. With the way the summer has been everywhere so far, with all the heat, it definitely takes a toll on people like us! So, just so y'all know, I'm doing a lot better than I was about a week ago! :)

My sister, Lisa, was supposed to be coming home tomorrow with her boyfriend and their two puppies. However, she had some problems with the house she is closing on (which she was supposed to do Monday). So now, she's coming next Wednesday. I'm bummed, since I was all ready to see her!! However, I'm glad she will still be coming, and I now get to look forward to doing something next week!

I just finished listening to Alanis Morissette's acoustic version of Jagged Little Pill. It was good, but I have to say I like the original much better. It was definitely a very edgy album, and I still love listening to it when I need to get out aggravations, or when I exercise (which I haven't been doing at all lately :::hanging head in shame:::). But the newer version still is good, and I wish I was near a city where she is performing it! I'd love to see her!

I suppose I've babbled on enough about nothing in particular. Must be that I'm tired! So I'll call it a night! :)

Been Feeling Blah

Lately, I've been feeling very blah, not like myself almost. I've been pretty tired. I slept most of the day on Sunday. I feel like some of my PH symptoms have been a little worse, like the fatigue, shortness of breath, etc. Almost like I felt before taking the one medicine that has been helping me so much. I know a lot of it has to do with this weather. The heat and humidity definitely doesn't help! For me, though, air conditioning makes me feel worse, so I don't turn it on much in my apartment. I'm just resting as much as I can, and keeping a low profile. I did go out today, and felt good for the most part. But when I got home, I just felt really tired. I really hate this, I hate having PH sometimes. I don't often complain about it, which I guess is a good thing since I've had it all my life. I think someone would have shot me somewhere along the line in the past 29 years if I had complained about it every day. lol

I'm thinking that maybe another part of me is a little depressed. Mandy and her husband and the baby move this week. I knew they couldn't stay upstairs forever, but still, I'm just sad. It is so much easier to just walk upstairs to visit than to drive to their house. Granted, it'll be not even a 10 minute drive. But, that said, Mandy and Ron aren't the type of people to pick up the phone and say hi. I already told Mandy that I feel like I'll never see them because of that. While I know that's not true, I also told her the phone works both ways. I guess we'll see what happens.

Enough blahness for today, I am off to bed.

i dont like this! Make sure you let someone know. It may just be the humidity- which should mean the next 4 days or so will be a welcome relief. But if you dont start to feel better over these next few nice days make sure to call the DR! And that my friend, is an order Comment from maidothemist - 7/27/05 2:09 AM

I'm sorry you're not feeling well. Like you said, I'm sure the weather sure isn't helping, but hopefully you'll be back to your old self soon. I know how you feel about your family. Mine is really close, but we don't pick up the phone often enough and being so far away from them is sad for me too. ((hugs)) ~ Lori Comment from fitzzer - 7/26/05 7:48 AM

Good Vs. Evil

Ok, I thought I was completely insane for thinking this, but a friend and I were discussing the Harry Potter movies the other night, and some of the actors playing characters in the film. I casually said to my friend, jokingly, but seriously, that I thought the guy playing Professor Snape was hot! She was like, "Alan Rickman?? Totally!!" I gasped, since I really thought I was the only one who was in love with a bad character in Harry Potter!! I have always found myself attracted to "the bad boy" image, and I guess that remains the same with Snape!

So after this discussion, I was talking to another friend about who is playing Lord Voldemort (He-Who-Should-Not-Be-Named) in the upcoming Harry Potter film being released in November. I tell her it is Ralph Fiennes, and we both same YUMMY!! LOL Great, so now that makes TWO actors playing evil characters in the Harry Potter films that I find sinfully delicious!! How am I to watch the next movie?? I'll be rooting for Harry and Snape and Voldemort all at the same time!!!

Mmmmmmm, yummy. lol

I know, call me an insanity case, but what can I say??

What's Up With My Dad??

I went to dinner last night with my family, since my Grandma and an aunt were in town. While at dinner, my Dad told me he ordered my birthday present, and he'll give it to me on Tuesday. I asked him if they were windshield wipers, and he said no. (Sidenote: My Dad's a mechanic, so he is always getting things for cars!) He told me it was something I wanted, and that I wasn't sure if I could wait for it since my birthday is in September. Then I realized what it could be! I THINK it might be a tool box holder, with different drawers in it to keep things, such as nails, screws, nuts and bolts, etc. However, I think it would be perfect for beads!! I told him this when I was with him last weekend on our little shopping excursion.

So I'm sitting there realizing that: A) My Dad actually listened to what I said lol; B) My Dad bought me something for my birthday??? In all my almost-30 years (remember people, my birthday is in September, mark your calendars!), my Dad has never bought me or my sisters gifts. My Mom just buys something for us, and signs the card, "Love Mom and Dad." So, I have to say, that once again, I'm a little overwhelmed emotionally that my Dad is getting me something. It's not even the thing he's bought me, it's the idea that he did it! What is up with him lately??? I don't know, but that's ok with me!!

My Journal Is Being Featured!! Whoo Hoo!

Imagine going to check your email, and getting an email saying that your journal is going to be featured on AOL's People Connection. And imagine your journal also being featured as one of several other journals in a journal entry by the Guest Editor of the week! Well, that's exactly what I discovered when logging on this morning! And I have to say, that I'm quite surprised! And in return for my journal being posted in her blog, I would like to introduce you to the person responsible for hightlighting my journal!

Meet Jaime Chase. Her journal is entitled A ChaseNKids Production. She writes about her life in Alaska, with her loving husband, Ian, and her very cute children! Oh, and let's not forget the fabulous hair! Her entries are often time very funny and entertaining, and I truly enjoy reading them! So I highly suggest stopping by her journal and giving it a read! And at the same time, I thank you very much, Jaime, for listing me in your journal!! I do so appreciate the recognition!

Sometimes I Wonder.... people need to wear jewelry? Or do they really want to wear jewelry? I wonder these types of things when I spend 4 hours making a really nice piece of jewelry, only to have one part break off, and the necklace becomes unfixable and unwearable. It's rather frustrating, I tell ya!! My hand hurts from working on this stupid thing today, and what do I get??? The ending broke!! UGH!!! Why do I even bother??????

Oh wait, I bother because people actually buy my stuff. Sometimes.

Guess I'll try it all over again tomorrow. Cross your fingers it doesn't happen again!

Because when it broke, I was in front of my grandma. And I almost cursed up and down, but then I remembered......I was in front of my grandma!!

(not that she would have heard me anyway )

I do NOT need to be swearing mentally in my head again!! )(*&$^(*@#^)@#!!!!!!!

What A Sad Ending!!! *Sob sob*

Well, I've been reading Harry Potter since Saturday. I finished it today. While I really enjoyed the book more than the last one, I have to say that I was really surprised at who died. Not only with who died, but the way this character died. It was sad, and a little shocking. At least to me it was! No wonder the articles I've read online the past couple days said kids were having a hard time coping with who dies! So if you plan on reading the book, or if you are reading the book, get a tissue or something when you are nearing the end. You'll need it!! I needed it!!

Lazy Sunday

I awoke to another hot and humid day today. I debated about whether I wanted to go to church or not. I tried calling my mom to see if she was going, but the phone was busy for the longest time. I ended up just getting ready to go, and when I finally got a hold of her, she had just woken up. Sooo, I just went by myself. I missed church last week because I didn't feel like it, and I thought, not the best attitude to have. That's part of why I didn't go to church for over a year, because I was too lazy to get up and go there. Only part of the reason, though.

So anyway, I get to church, and immediately felt like I entered a meat locker. Holy cow, was it freezing in there! And just my luck, I had forgot to bring a sweater. By the time I was semi-warm, mass had ended. Ugh!! So, I went to the pharmacy after, and got a prescription filled. Fun stuff. On the way home, I decided to stop by my parents house.

I ended up chilling with my dad and Shelby, our little family dog. She's too cute for words!! See?
Anyhooo, my dad and I just chatted and watched Tiger Woods win his golf tournament. My mom eventually came out of the bedroom, and I still think she wasn't feeling all that great. After a couple hours, I decided to go home to see what my cat was up to.

I spent most of the day reading Harry Potter. Good book so far! Yay! And don't worry, I am NOT giving out details! I wouldn't want those who read my journal to find out anything before they read the book (if they plan on it). That's just too mean!!

Yeah, really not much to talk about my day here. Just a relaxing hot Sunday. Very low-key. And it was nice!

A Little Adventure With Dad

I called my mom this morning to see if she need to go to Sam's Club for anything. She asked me what I needed, and I said the new Harry Potter book, of course! I noticed that it was the cheapest place to get it (until I went into Walmart after and saw it was the same price). She said she didn't need to go there, so I called my dad. He said he needed to go, and he'd call me later.

So my dad calls me, and we go to Sam's. I get my book, he gets his coffee-mate stuff, and off we go to Walmart. I told him I wanted to go look at the beads (uh oh!!), and he said he'd wander over that way after he found a belt. I picked out some beads that have been selling quite well as necklaces and earrings that I've been making. I also got a birthday card for my cousin. So we get into line, and I put my stuff down behind my dad's stuff on the conveyor belt thingy. He picks up my stuff and puts it with his. I asked him what he as doing, and he didn't say anything to me! So I hand him my 10 bucks, and he just smirks at me like I'm nuts. Now, my mom does this to me quite often, buying something for me. But it's just not something my dad always does, and I found it a little endearing. I just put my money back in my wallet, and thanked him very much. I also told him I'd make him something pretty. lol

So now that I'm home, I'm off to my bedroom to get a little cooler (I finally turned the a/c on in there), and to read Harry Potter!! I must have questions answered for me, but I'm not sure how soon that will happen. The book is 652 pages!! I might be reading this for quite a while!

Very Late Night!

I went out tonight with Dee, and it was a good time! Half of me was hoping to run into Tom at some point tonight. Today was his birthday. On his birthday last year, we ended up hooking up together at the end of the night. That led to a summer of "stopping by." Very late at night. What a difference a year has made, though. I went from talking to him every day last year, to barely talking to him at all. All because I finally told him my feelings for him, and got hurt very badly from it. I'm over it now, and I still consider him a good friend. I don't know what I was expecting if I did see him out. But, I didn't, so I guess I won't ever know!

The person I did see tonight was my ex. It was the 2nd time I had seen him out ever since I broke up with him 5 years ago. And it was the first time I've talked to him since then. We spent 5 minutes catching up, and that was that. I think he was surprised to see me, and that I remembered a few things about him. But after talking to him, I realized nothing's changed with him. And I guess I'm not missing much.

I saw a lot of people out tonight, but I know I have really gotten old when I see people I used to babysit!! I saw the twin boys (well not really boys anymore, men!) who live across the street from my parents. My jaw just dropped, since I guess I really didn't realize they were 21. Actually, make that 22, as I was corrected. For goodness sake, where does the time fly?? I remember when they were 5 and coming across the street to play with us. Whoooo, do I ever feel ancient!!

I thought I'd be able to go straight to bed, since I started a yawning streak at the bar. However, I'm wide awake. Grrrr!! I think I'll go try reading something. That'll make me start feeling drowsy really quick! Have a great night!

And yes, this is being posted around 3:15am!!

The past few days, with the hot weather and the unsettled atmosphere, we've had quite a bit of thunder and lightning to contend with, during the day and at night. I absolutely love thunderstorms. I know that there are some people who are downright terrified of them, but I just love them! To me, it's almost peaceful, even when the thunder can be quite loud sometimes. The other night, for some reason, I woke up at 2:30am, and I realized that thunder was in the distance. I lay there for quite some time, listening to the thunder getting closer and closer. The lightning was like flash bulbs going off in the sky. Soon the storm was on us, and the rain started. By 3am, things were calming down, and I was a little bummed. No more lightning or thunder! Until the next time.....which was like the next afternoon. lol

I used to love sitting on my parents' front porch when I used to live there, watching the rain come down, and listening to the thunder. I miss that. I can't do that on my porch, or I'd be soaking wet. lol

Out With The Old, In With The New!

My sister, Mandy, her hubby, Ron, their baby, Hailey, and their dog, Cleo are all moving fairly soon. They'll be out by or before the end of this month. They found a new home that is only about a 5 minute or more drive from my house. I am getting a little sad that they are going. They aren't exactly the type of people to pick up the phone and call you to see what's up. I joked with Mandy that I'm afraid they'll move, and I'll never see them again. lol I know it's not true, but I'm sure I'll be calling them a lot more than they call me (or anyone else for that matter).

Anyhow, my parents were hoping maybe my friend, Dee, could move upstairs. Unfortunately, because of circumstances beyond her control, she isn't able to move right now because of financial reasons. So, we didn't know who would be able to move in, and my mom would have had to put an ad in the paper. Not something I really wanted, but hey, they can't afford to keep the apartment open forever until we got someone!

So, last week, I got IM'd by my friend, Tom's, brother, Pat. Pat told me he heard that I have an apartment upstairs for rent soon. I said, why yes, I do. He seriously wanted to take a look at it, since he and his girlfriend wanted a place on their own. With their 100lb dog. I mentioned something to my mom, and she was leery at first. Especially about the dog. But, she said he could look at it, and yesterday he came over. I showed him around, and he loved it right away! Of course, he's a guy, and a lot of guys (not ALL guys, mind you, just a lot) don't give a care where they live, just as long as it's not too shabby. He called me today to say they want the apartment. I thought he'd give his girlfriend a chance to see it first, but apparently she has put all her trust in him, and said go ahead and take it. So, yaaaaaaaaaaaay!! I will have new housemates right after my old housemates leave!

Ironically, Pat was in Mandy's class in grade school. Ironically, Pat is moving in with his girlfriend, and their dog. Mandy got engaged in her apartment. I mentioned this to Pat, and he started laughing and said there is NO WAY that is happening any time in the near future. Poor girlfriend! lol

A Recipe!

Just for a change, I have decided to put a recipe up here that I love. It's very yummy, and I've made it a couple times so far! I just thought I'd share it!

Strawberry Banana Bread

2c all-purpose flour
3/4tsp baking soda
1/2tsp salt
1c sugar
1/4c butter, softened
2 large eggs
1c mashed ripe banana*
1/2c mashed ripe strawberry*
1/3c plain low-fat yogurt**
1tsp vanilla extract cooking spray
(* you can use more strawberries than bananas if you want, I've exchanged amounts before, and it is still good! **I use vanilla-flavored yogurt, tastes yummier! lol)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly spoon flour into measuring cups; level with a knife. Combine flour, baking soda, & salt, stirring with a whisk. Place sugar & butter in large bowl, & beat with mixer at medium speed until well blended (about 1m). Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating well after each addition. Add banana, strawberry, yogurt, and vanilla; beat until well blended. Add flour mixture; beat at low speed just until moist. Spoon batter into 8 1/2 x 4 1/2 inch loaf pan coated with cooking spray. Bake for 1 hour at 350 degrees, until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes in pan, then remove from pan to cool on wire rack completely.

A Nice Email Tonight

I was talking to my cousin earlier tonight when I got an email. I checked to see who it was from, and it was from Euan. It's kind of ironic, too, since my friend, Renee, asked me the other night if I had heard from him recently. I haven't heard from him since May. We were trying to make plans to meet each other, and unfortunately, the day we picked ended up not working for him. And ever since then, I hadn't really heard from him. I was disappointed, to say the least. My gut instinct, however, was that he might not be feeling well. He has a heart condition, not like mine, but serious enough that he needs to go to cardiologists often. Anyway, he said he had an episode of tachycardia (sp), where the heart starts racing very fast and doesn't stop. He had to call an ambulance since he was alone when it happened. He also said there's a possibility that he might have to have a defibrillator put in his heart to help if it happens again. But right now, he's recovering. He said he still really wants to meet me, whenever he starts feeling a lot better.

For those of you who are wondering, Euan is a guy I started talking to after receiving a message from him on I used to have a personal up on that site, and he sent a message. I wasn't a paying member, but I thought he was rather interesting. So I signed up for a free 3 days so I could write him back, and cancelled the membership right after that. lol We emailed each other books for quite a while, and had so much in common, it was unbelievable to me. Then we talked on the phone for a while. Then we'd lose touch, get back in touch months later, lose touch again, get back in touch, etc. lol We had been in touch for a bit starting in January, and that's when we were trying to make plans to meet. I know that one day we will. And I know that whenever we do, we'll have a fabulous time! I hope it's soon, but I want him to get better. Because as much as I know him and don't know him, I do know that I care a lot about him, and I want him to be ok.

So, that's the update on Euan. I'm glad that he is ok for now, and I hope he continues to get well. I can't wait for the day we get to meet each other! :)

My mom had tachycardia too. She had to have some sort of surgery to keep it from happening. Not exactly sure what it was, but pretty sure it wasn't the defibrillator. Hope he's feeling better. it's a very scary experience. ~ Lori Comment from fitzzer - 7/12/05 8:34 AM

Song Lyrics With Meaning

I miss you,
Miss you so bad.
I don't forget you,
Oh it's so sad.
I hope you can hear me.
I remember it clearly.
The day you slipped away,
Was the day I found it won't be the same.
I didn't get around to kiss you,
Good bye on the hand.
I wish that I could see you again.
I know that I can't.
I hope you can hear me.
Cause I remember it clearly.
The day you slipped away,
Was the day I found it won't be the same.
I've had my wake up, won't you wake up
I keep asking why.
And I can't take it, it wasn't fake it.
It happened you passed by.
Now you're gone, now you're gone,
There you go, there you go
Somewhere I can't bring you back.
Now you're gone, now you're gone,
There you go, there you go
Somewhere, you're not coming back.
The day you slipped away,
Was the day I found it won't be the same.
The day you slipped away,
Was the day that I found it won't be the same.
I miss you.
~Avril Lavigne, Slipped Away

Ugh, I'm quite irritated at the moment, and just had to vent. I worked on a lovely 2-layered necklace today for almost 3 hours. I got right at the end to finish it off, and part of a bead broke, and the whole necklace is not fixable the way I had made it. I managed to salvage it enough for it to be wearable, but I definitely wouldn't sell it to anyone. Which stinks, because it's not something I would wear! Not that I don't like it, I love it actually. I just don't have anything fancy enough to wear it with. Stupid bead that broke!!

Ok, tomorrow's another day. Of jewelry making. And possibly more vulgarity if something goes wrong.

*Side note: It's a good thing cats cannot speak and repeat what their human slaves say around them. My cat knows every swear word known to man, and then some. LOL

Holy Heat!

The temperature reading on AOL right now says it's 92 degrees in Niagara Falls. I'm sitting here in my computer room, windows open, and a slight breeze coming in. And I'm cooler than I thought I would be. And I'm not sure why. LOL I did go outside earlier, and I seriously think I want to play Ms. Scientist to see if I can fry and egg on the sidewalk! But I have to make a strawberry banana bread, so I'm not going to waste an egg. Maybe I should try to bake the bread outside. Hmmmmm.......

Just Some Sunday Thoughts

It is such a beautiful Sunday so far today! It's very warm outside right now, I think the AOL temp for Niagara Falls said 88 degrees. However, today we have no humidity, so I am quite comfy in my little apartment with the windows open and a gentle breeze coming in. I've been working on some jewelry today, and I've actually done more than one set. Go me! I just finished a necklace that I am hoping my cousin would love for her birthday next week. I love it, I haven't taken it off yet. lol I sure wish I had a digital camera so I could take pictures of what I make and post them some place. I keep trying to save my pennies to get one, but I just had to put all my pennies toward a stupid new computer. Actually, I had no pennies for it, it all went on this plastic card thing I have. lol Anyhow, one of these days, maybe I'll get one!

My cat is currently sitting in the windowsill, hoping for another bird to land in the bush right outside the window. He just saw one land there, and he stretched up and peeked at it before he got in the window. He's so darn cute! Let's post the cuteness, shall we?

Of course, this picture is old, because you know, I can't afford a digital camera. But trust me, there isn't much of a difference between then and now!

It's About Time!!

I have finally seen Star Wars Episode III: Return of the Sith. IT'S ABOUT TIME! I went with my dad, since I bought him movie tickets for Father's Day. It was either Star Wars, or Madagascar. I think we'll wait to see that one in the cheap theater. lol

Anyway, I loved the movie! I think because it made sense, and brought everything together. I have to say, I got emotional at some parts. I won't mention anything here since I don't know if any of my readers have seen it, or plan on seeing it. Or I might bore some to death who don't have any care to go see it either! All I have to say is that it was NOT a happy, go-lucky film. And that I completely understood why they said small children shouldn't see it.

Speaking of which, there were several small children at the movie. It just disgusts me. And I'm talking little, the couple behind us had 3 children with them, and I think the oldest was maybe 7. They ended up leaving halfway through it since their kids basically wouldn't sit still. Hmmm, wonder why?? Duh!

A Nice Saturday

Yesterday, I did a LOT around the house. I haven't had that much energy in a while, so it was nice to be able to get stuff accomplished! I did 4 loads of laundry, 2 of which I hung outside to dry. There were a couple times when the clouds were so dark that I thought I would have to run outside to save the drying laundry from a downpour. But thank goodness it never rained! (Those darn weatherpeople can never predict the weather correctly! But I digress....) While I waited for laundry to finish, I cleaned the litterbox. I HATE that chore. lol It almost makes me not want a cat. ALMOST. I wouldn't give up Mittens for anything!! (Love you little man!! I say that like my cat reads this. lol)

My friend, Monique, had a birthday party at her house last night. So after I napped from my day of manual labor, I got changed and off I went! She had quite a few people there, which was really nice. She had a fire pit, so it was nice to just sit around that and chat, eat some yummy food, and laugh. I was there until a little after 1am. Whoo hoo! Oh, and I wore a red and black necklace set that I had made. It was cute with the shirt I was wearing, so I thought, why not? One of my friends bought it from me, and I just took them off and gave them to her! What a way to sell my jewelry! LOL

Today, my plan is to make a bunch of sets. Let's see how this goes. I shall report later! lol

A Very Nice Stranger

I went to Joann Fabrics today with my mom. I was looking for a crimp tool, something that can be used as part of the jewelryy making process. I figured, why not? Plus, I had a coupon! Yay!!

I got to the bead section and began my search. Not even a few minutes into looking, a lady said to me, "Excuse me, I don't mean to be rude, but why is someone as young as you wearing oxygen?" Now, this woman asked me this question very nicely, so I happily obliged her with an answer.

I told her how I have pulmonary hypertension, and that I need to wear oxygen as part of my medical treatment. She told me she was a nurse, so she was very curious as to what I had. I get questions all the time about the fact I wear oxygen, and some people are downright rude about it! As if it's a terrible thing or something. But she was as nice as could be! We ended up talking for about 20 minutes. After I told her the short version of my life story (I'm surprised that took me only 10 minutes lol), she told me she was a wonderfully strong person, and how amazed she was. How very nice it was to hear that from a complete stranger. Sometimes, strangers can be so amazing to talk to.

By the end of our conversation, she asked me my name. She said hers was Donna, and it was very nice meeting me. She also said God Bless you when she went to leave. That is not something you hear from a stranger every day, either!

Encounters like this don't make me feel uncomfortable. It just makes me wonder what the other people think who are not brave enough or bold enough to ask me about my health. Do they think I'm a strong person? Do they think, what the hell is wrong with that girl? Do they not give a hoot? And when I do get the questions and comments from strangers who are kind about it, I wonder, how is it they think I'm a strong person? I have been told this by so many people, friends included, and I don't consider myself strong. I go through my struggles. I don't know, it's just something I wonder about from time to time!

I always wonder why people need oxygen when the come to the shore. At sea level, we are far more oxygenated than anywhere else on earth. I know, they have certian medical problems but, I still wonder about it. I thought you just wore it as a trendy accessory! LOL! Comment from luvmort - 7/6/05 2:03 PM sweet! I think sometimes we don't realize our own inner strength. To me, it also seems like they admire you for continuing to live your life, no matter what. Some people might choose to shut down and not live it. ~ Lori Comment from fitzzer - 7/6/05 8:24 AM

Whoo Hooo! A Quiz!

Here is a fun quiz I saw while reading THIS journal (thanks fitzzer!). So, I thought I'd do it here, too!

1. What were your 4th of July plans? My family met my BIL's family at Beaver Island, which seems to becoming a tradition, since this about the 3rd or 4th year we've gotten together for the 4th. It was nice, there was a breeze at first. Then the breeze disappeared, it was hotter than heck, and some people were becoming moody. lol We left around 5pm. It wasn't a bad day! I spent the rest of the day just relaxing, and I watched the fireworks in NYC on NBC. It was awesome, wish I had been there!

2. What is your favorite fast food chain? I no longer eat fast food, yuck! Let me tell you how much my cholesterol has gone down because of it....A LOT!!

3. Have you ever stood up in someone's wedding? I haven't been to too many weddings, and the ones I have been too, I have been in. So, nope. lol

4. Do you believe in astrology, horoscopes or fortune tellers? I like reading horoscopes, they are fun. But as far as believing in them, sometimes yes, sometimes no. I've never been to a fortune teller, and I don't think I'd ever go. I've gotten along pretty well not knowing what my future will be, I don't want to know now. lol

5. If you could only have one kind of soft drink, listen to one band/musician, and watch one stand up comic the rest of your life what would you pick? This is a tough one!Soft drink: When I drink pop, which is rarely, I love Pepsi!
Band: This is a toss up between Janet Jackson and the Barenaked Ladies. Hmmm, I can't decide between the two, I'd have to flip a coin!
TV show: How did TV show get in this list, it's not listed in the question! lol Well, if I had to watch one TV show for the rest of my life, it would have to be Friends!
Stand up Comic: This is a hard one, too! I think I'd have to go for Ellen Degeneres, she just cracks me up!

6. What color do you think is the ugliest brides maid dress you've ever seen? I would have to say this chartruese green color, it was hideous!! Poor bridesmaids!

7. What's the last thing you were bought that you were sorry you purchased? Hmm, I bought a bunch of shirts at Old Navy that I really loved, but I knew I didn't have the money for them. So I keep wearing them a lot so I could at least say I got use out of them!! lol

8. Do any of your pets have middle names? I have a cat named Mittens, and 7 betta fish. Yes, they are all named, too. lol But none of them have middle names, it's hard to keep track of who's who!

9. Do you believe in aliens? Naa. Watch, tonight I'll probably be abducted by one just to prove me wrong. LOL

10. Name one celebrity you wouldn't want to meet in a dark alley. I'd have to go with Tom Cruise. He's been acting crazy lately, who knows what he might do! I can't stand him anyway, so I definitely wouldn't want to run into him. lol

11. What fellow bloggers would you most like to sit down and have a beer with? I'd love to have a party with all of them! However, I wouldn't be drinking beer!

12. What color are the sheets and comforter on your bed? My sheets are white, and my comforter is a maroonish-red color with gold Greek key symbols and smatherings of cat fur.

13. If you were to run away and join the circus what act would you most like to perform? I'd like to work with the tigers, they are very beautiful creatures!

14. What turns you on most about another person when you're attracted to them? Their smile. I can't stand guys who don't smile!

15. What turns you off about another person? Rudeness, ignorance, and smoking

16. If you had to use a pick up line on someone what would you say? I have no idea, pick up lines aren't my thing. lol

17. Where did your first kiss take place? In front of my house, with one of the boys I used to play with when I was little. I think I was like 9 or 10.

18. What was the last gift you received? My friend, Dee, bought me a cute fishy statue for my computer room, and it wasn't even my birthday! Thanks, Dee!

19. What do you wear to sleep in? In the winter, flannel pjs. In the summer, nothing. lol

20. What's your favorite love song? I have always loved Lady In Red, by Chris DeBurgh. I also love At Last, by Etta James.

Happy 4th of July!!

I hope everyone has a great 4th of July!! I just came back from spending most of the day at Beaver Island with my BIL's family. It started out hot, but ok since there was a strong breeze. A couple hours later, everyone was wondering where the breeze went as we were all trying to stay in the shade and cool ourselves off with quick-melting ice. Still, the food was yummy, and we had a good time. I'm about ready for a nap as soon as I jump in the shower to cool off!

I'm not sure if I'll make any fireworks tonight. My sister and I tried going downtown last night to Goat Island, hoping to see the fireworks from the Seneca Niagara Casino, and from Canada. Unfortunately, from where we were standing, we couldn't see them from the casino. And then sadly, for some odd reason, Canada didn't fire theirs off at all. So, we didn't get to see any fireworks! We did, however, see about 1,000 tourists speaking all sorts of languages, and smelling all sorts of smells. And our usually 5 minute drive home ended up being about half an hour with all the traffic. My goodness, Niagara Falls is a busy time during the summer!!
